Hello dear readers, I want to tell you about a Crimean town, namely the city of Sudak.

One evening I was looking through a column of ads on one site dedicated to the subject property of the Crimea to buy - sell and came across an article about this interesting and covered with a layer of mystery city, it was the city of Sudak.

I was attracted by the unusual name - Pike, came up once the association with fish, living in fresh water, but as it turned out, my guess is fundamentally wrong! As I learned later in this article, then in Sudak and fresh water is not!

According to some historians, Pike - is from Iran - «suxta-ka», which means - "blameless", "saint." Our fellow Jews, Slavs, the city used to be called Pike - "Surozh" and who knows, maybe they're right! But there is another interesting version! She told the locals Sudak. From this version, the name comes from the Pike fusion of two words, "Su" and "Doug." In fact, it looks like this: "Su" - the sea, and "Doug" - a mountain, it turns out that "Doug Soo" is translated as "water and the mountains." In the future, the letter "r" in "Doug" was replaced with the letter "k" and as a result we have - Sudak. Indeed, the Pike is located in the middle of the south-east coast of the Crimean peninsula and surrounded himself thus a mountain fortress from the west and the east cape of Apache. From the north the city is enveloped by a ridge of mountains and sea from the south! All of this puts a unique perch in a hoop made of stone and water!
